There's also the issue of renting it, in essence once they have everyone on rental the company can then stick whatever price they like on stuff because in most cases there are no other options.

Wouldn't be so bad if after a period of time (ie after full 'cost' of software or 3 years) you 'owned' a version of said software to continue using without updates but not many do that. Sadly all the major 'monopoly' companies in most fields have cottoned on to this rental lark. I can't say I'm a fan of 'renting' software for long term use, it's fine for quick jobs etc where you need it for say a month but for people like us who use it day in day out type of thing I still prefer to 'own' my software.

What Adobe really means is, we want you to upgrade to our cloud version software, where you then must pay us annually for the privilege of using software that you currently already own outright. Please quit and try again later.Īfter Googling I found this link, which initially suggests CS5 is too old for Adobe to support! There was an error downloading this update.

After downloading said updates, I then got this: I've just finished re-installing all the software on my new PC, including my trusty version of Adobe Master Collection CS5, and the Adobe Application Manager popped up and suggested a bunch of updates, so I clicked OK.
